A Quick Guide to Studying in UST

Good morning, sunshines!

  1. Make sure you are in your complete uniform.
  2. Wear your ID at all times. Ang ganda-ganda ng lanyard, hindi mo susuotin? Sayang 300 mo sis!
  3. Greet the teachers warmly. Sila ang second parents niyo. Nawa’y igalang natin sila nang lubusan.
  4. Show mutual respect to all authorities. Even our maintenance staff. No one should be disrespected!
Anong dapat kong dalhin pagpasok ng UST?
  1. Notebooks. For your notes. Every detail in the lecture is important.
  2. Handouts.
  3. Yellow pad. Maniwala ka na lang.
  4. Pocket money.

  1. Heavy workload. Yeah. Mahirap kapag hindi ka nasanay nang maaga.
  2. Friends. Andiyan lang sila sa tabi. Find them. You’ll meet them soon. And you will see each other grow with the deadlines.
  3. Open-mindedness. Bawal ang close-minded sa España!
  4. The cheers. Hindi lang “Go USTe!” yan, sis. Be a Thomasian by heart by learning the different cheers of the university!
  5. Big events. We have yellow day for supporting our Thomasian athletes. We also have college weeks for each department; it’s more of a fair for that department for six days. And don’t forget…
  6. Paskuhan! This is one of the biggest events in the university.
And there you have it: my basic reminders for you all! UST is a colorful (mostly yellow) university with such diversity in beliefs and lifestyles that brings people together. Having studied here, I have grown more competent in the field of academics, as the heavy workload really trains us. I have also become more committed to everything I do, not only in studies, but also managing myself for my own good. Lastly, but not the least, I believe I’ve rendered myself more compassionate than I was, and I am very proud for that development for me. (Remember those three C’s, you’ll hear them a lot.)

Soon, you, too, will grow not only to become competitive at mind, but also open at heart. And that adventure begins when you step inside the walls of the welcoming, 21-hectare campus, with emblems of black and yellow, ready to face the other colors of the blowing winds.
Good luck, Tomasino!

PS. Don’t forget to sleep well too. You’re gonna need it.
